Three games built for a short commute
Not every game survives being played in ninety-second bursts. The ones that do share a trick: they let you stop cleanly and start again without punishment. Here are three I keep on my phone specifically for the ride to town.
Tilewell is my first choice because it has no timer and no penalty for pausing mid-move. I can literally lock the phone as the bus doors open and pick up the exact same puzzle later. That reliability matters more than flashy features.
Boxcar Billy works for a different reason. Its runs are naturally short, so a single go fits the gap between stops perfectly. Just remove the ads first, or you'll spend half the commute watching them.
Pebble Tide's daily challenge is the sleeper pick. One fresh puzzle a morning is exactly the right size for a coffee-and-commute routine, and I look forward to it more than I expected.
The common thread is respect for interruption. A commute game should never make you feel like you've been ripped away from something. It should feel like closing a book on a chapter you can reopen anytime.
